red bull: the content marketing machine
Mashable recently did a fantastic feature on Red Bull. You may have heard of them. Little blue and silver can? The kids mix it with vodka? Right. You know what else they make that you can consume besides an energy drink? Content. Lots of content. In fact, they have an entire division (more like a company) dedicated to this content. The Red Bull Media House churns out bite sized morsels of content goodness. They produce print, television, online, mobile, music, games and feature film content.
Their dedicated website for content is called the Red Bull Content Pool and it is aimed at producers, editors and journalists looking to quench their content thirst. What they have done a masterful job of is putting their product second, a distant second. The real focus is the content which in turn builds brand loyalty which eventually equates to sales.
The Mashable piece also highlighted a solid report by the Altimeter Group. They have done a great job of categorizing what stage companies are in with regard to content marketing using an exercise analogy (stand, stretch, walk, jog and run). Check it out, it is well worth your time.

pebble arrives. sort of.
So today we were greeted with news that the Pebble watch is finally here. And by finally here we mean shipping on January 23rd. And by shipping January 23rd we mean arriving 6-8 weeks later. It has been a long wait so waiting a little longer won't hurt. It is understandable that such an undertaking can incur countless delays but today's announcement seemed sort of comical. Regardless, I for one can't wait to get my hands on it and use it for running and cycling. Will you get one?

nike: find your greatness
Nike knocks another one out of the park. Great idea and execution. I get goosebumps every time this airs.

Just in case you aren't already completely enthralled by the tournament going on across the pond, here is a little extra inspiration.

#linsanity
This guy is for real. No joke. And the legend is growing. This game-winner against Toronto is amazing. The confidence with which he directs the offense in the final seconds is unbelievable. Hollywood couldn't have scripted it better.
Here's to Jeremy Lin, may he be an inspiration to everyone sitting on the end of the bench.

infographic: baseball
Derek Fletcher has done a very elegant job of explaining the game of baseball in an "infographic" manner. Well done.

world series game 7.
Was it me or was this over before it started? Game six certainly felt like a game seven with all of the late inning heroics. Momentum is so important in sports and the Rangers lost it on Thursday night. Congrats to Mr. Freese for winning the series MVP. And to think he quit baseball at one point in his career.

world series game 6.
One for the ages. Epic. To echo Vin Scully's call of Kirk Gibson's famous 1988 World Series home run, "I don't believe what I just saw." Where does this rank in the lore of game sixes? Among the best? You bet. The Rangers needed one strike to win it all. Twice. And twice the Cardinals fought back. It felt like a game seven and truthfully, it will be hard to top it.

world series game 5.
This one was a dandy. Texas 4 and St. Louis 2. Game 6 tomorrow. This has been the best series in several years. Back and forth momentum shifts. Here is a great recap of last night's action from Fox Sports. Nice bow tie Ken.

world series game 4.
The Rangers managed to shift the momentum. Again. After the game 3 blowout Derek Holland threw a gem of a game. And he has a sweet mustache to boot.

world series game 3.
Wow. This one was memorable for different reasons. 3 home runs by Albert Pujols and some controversy. Pujols joined Babe Ruth and Reggie Jackson as the only player to hit 3 home runs in a World Series game. Impressive.
Associated Press
The controversy occurred at first base. According to replays the Rangers' Mike Napoli appeared to tag out the Cardinals' Matt Holiday, but that isn't what umpire Ron Kulpa saw. He called Holiday safe. Replays proved him wrong and shortly thereafter the Cardinals started a rally to go up 5-0.

world series game 2.
The Texas Rangers, namely Ian Kinsler, steal game two. They were down to their final out and risking going down 0-2 before Kinsler stolen base sparked a rally. Momentum is everything in sports and now the Rangers have it.
