Mashable has done a great job of highlighting some web design trends for small businesses they have notcied recently. They include minimalism (see image above), unique photography (as opposed to stock), bold typography, clear calls to action and A/B testing (where you have two versions of a home/landing page which are shown randomly to visitors in order to gauge effectiveness). These are all fantastic ideas that can improve any businesses web presence and really set you apart.
